I was just thinking about how many people enjoy beautiful artwork but don't have the money or wall space to buy original paintings or even prints. There's only so much space on your walls. But there are so many ways to enjoy art without owning an original painting or fine art print, from calendars to coffee mugs. Practically everyone drinks coffee or tea, or at least keeps coffee mugs on hand for guests who do. Who doesn't own a coffee mug, after all? So why have a plain black or white mug when you could use that mug as a canvas to display some artwork?
Many people are already starting their Christmas shopping. Personalized coffee mugs are just the right size and price for stocking stuffers. Holstein Cow Vegan Shirt on Amazon
I'm happy to announce my artwork is now becoming available on Amazon Merch clothing. Here's my first two available shirts featuring my artwork of a mother Holstein cow nurturing her cute calf. These particular shirts are designed for vegans and vegetarians who want to show their support for animal rights.
The first one is the vegan shirt with the saying "Be Kind, Be Vegan" underneath the image. It's available in 5 colors, blue, green, white, and two shades of gray. The women's shirt is shown here.
Next is the vegetarian version with the saying, "Vegetarian, because I care" on it. This shirt is also available in several colors, blue, black, navy, gray, and white. The men's shirt is shown here.

New Cow and Calf Paintings
Since playing around with painting digitally I've been working on creating new paintings from scratch in Photoshop. But I've also revisited some of my older traditional oil paintings to see what I can do with those in PS as well, such as making color variations, or adding/subtracting elements. Here's one I've been playing around with recently, a painting of a Guernsey cow and calf. This is the original oil painting:
But then I wondered how this painting would look if I had made them black and white Holstein cows instead. So I edited the image in Photoshop to make them black and white instead of brown:
Not too bad, huh? But, hey, the background was always a little plain. What if I add a farm to the background now? I actually took an old barn and rolling hills from another painting I did years ago and put it in the background behind the cows. Now we have a rather Americana looking scene:
A little more interesting maybe. Or maybe you prefer the simpler version? Let me know in the comments which version you like best.

Miniature Art Show at Parklane Gallery
Every year the Parklane Gallery in Kirkland, WA hosts its Annual Miniature Show in May featuring miniature paintings and sculptures from artists all over the country. The show includes artwork from some well-known miniature painters such as Linda Rossin, Beverly Abbott and Wes & Rachelle Siegrist. The show will be from April 29th to June 1, 2014. There will be an artist reception on May 9th from 6:00-8:00PM and usually includes music and refreshments.
I'll have a number of small artworks on display in the gallery during the show, sizes 4"x6", 5"x7", and 6"x6", all oil paintings. Here's a preview of what I'll have there.
All these mini paintings are for sale and available for purchase through the gallery or directly from me. If you are in the area I invite you to visit the gallery and view these, and other miniature artworks, in person. Photos online never do them justice. If you are in the area, try to make it to the artist reception on May 9th, too. I'll be there, along with many other artists, and we'd love to meet you and chat about art together!

Cow and Calf Painting
New oil painting of a cow and calf. I've never painted a cow before so I was pleased with the way this one came out for a first attempt!
I'm no expert on cattle so I'm not positive what breed this is. From my research it could be either a Guernsey cow or a red Holstein cow. But, considering Guernseys are more common than red Holsteins, I'm going to call this one a Guernsey.
