New Gallery

I'm happy to announce my artwork is now being displayed in a new gallery, Parklane Gallery in Kirkland, WA. Well, the gallery isn't new. They've actually been around for about 23 years! But it's new for my artwork.

This is exciting to me because it's a local gallery, just a 20 minute drive from where I live in Woodinville, WA. I already have a few paintings in another gallery, Decoys & Wildlife Gallery, but that gallery is clear across the country in Frenchtown, NJ. Being so far away I feel quite detached from the gallery, my art, and the clients. Having artwork in a local gallery means I get to be much more involved. I'll be able to attend gallery shows and artwalks and meet the clientele. I can even do a little painting in the gallery from time to time so people can watch me work if they'd like.

They're hosting an international Miniature Show starting April 30 and ending June 2. I don't have any paintings small enough to qualify yet but I still have a couple weeks left before the deadline so I hope to do a few in time to enter the show. Whether I get paintings in the show or not, be sure to stop in and see it!

The gallery also participates in the Kirkland Art Walk which takes place the second Friday of every month from 6:00-8:00PM. The next one will be in a week, on April 12. There will be free snacks and wine in the gallery, and lots of friendly artists there to meet and chat with about art. There are also several nice restaurants nearby to round out the evening with a nice dinner.

It will be lots of fun, so if you're in the area stop by!

New Gallery Representation

I'm happy to announce I'll soon be working with a new gallery, Decoys and Wildlife Gallery in Frenchtown, NJ. In fact, three of my paintings are in transit there as I write this. I've spoken with several wildlife artists who are represented by this gallery and they have had nothing but good things to say about it.

The three paintings that will be there first (and available for purchase) are:

And, my personal favorite of the three:

This last painting was particularly hard to pack up and send off knowing I may never see it again. Paintings that are "milestones" for me are sometimes hard to part with. This painting was one of those milestones because it was the first painting I ever did with only the 3 primary colors of red, yellow, and blue. All the greens, grays, browns, and other colors were all mixed. The subtle variations in the mixings made the normally dull grays and browns quite beautiful. You can see a little bit of it in the wood here in this detail. As you can see, brown wood isn't just brown. There are lovely shades of violet, blue, green, and orange in there as well.

Wildlife Galleries Of My Past

While digging through some old photos looking for reference for my next painting, I came across some photos of me and my paintings in art galleries that I thought might be interesting to share.

The first gallery I was with was the Parkhurst Art Galleries in San Pedro, CA, representing the wonderful seascapes of Violet Parkhurst, now sadly deceased. She was a wonderful lady giving a young unknown artist like myself a chance by sharing a corner of her gallery with me.


It was a good first step and I'm grateful she gave me that opportunity. I did sell a few paintings through her gallery. However, since the gallery focused mainly on clientele interested in seascapes, it was not the ideal gallery for my wildlife art. A better opportunity soon came along. Artworks, Etc. in Fountain Valley focused exclusively on wildlife and western art. It was the perfect place for my art. The gallery owner and staff did a great job of promoting my art and my paintings sold very well there. I had a hard time keeping up supplying them with new paintings. What more could a new artist ask for!?



I worked with Artworks, Etc. for several years. It was a great gallery to work with. Unfortunately for me, the gallery owner retired and the gallery closed. Ah well, we had a great run! Time to move on.

So now, here I am, seeking a new gallery, hoping I can find one as wonderful to work with as the previous galleries. If you know of any galleries looking for another wildlife artist send them my way! :)
