Digital Birdhouses Painting Finished

I finally finished my first completely digital bird painting created in Photoshop CS5, a scene of a variety of bird species and some colorful birdhouses in a garden of spring flowers. Here we have eastern bluebirds with a yellow schoolhouse birdhouse, northern red cardinals on a bright blue octagonal birdhouse, and American goldfinches on a red cottage-like birdhouse. I named this piece "Primary Colors" because of the red, yellow, and blue birds and birdhouses. The flowers include white dogwood blossoms and pink, red, and white cosmos flowers.

You can see a larger version of this image on my Pixels.com page, as well as high-res zoom details. You can also get this image on prints and greeting cards there as well.

I'm also happy to announce that, once I submitted this image to the licensing agency, it was very quickly licensed by Bits and Pieces to be used on jigsaw puzzles. Unfortunately, it won't be out until Feb 2016.

In the mean time, I've added a few products to my Zazzle store featuring this image. Because the Bits and Pieces contract is an exclusive one I can't put this on jigsaw puzzles in my Zazzle store. But I have put it on several other products so far including iPad covers, pillows, throw blankets, wallets, mouse pads, and bags, to name a few. I'll be adding more as time permits so check back periodically to see what's new, or contact me and let me know if you'd like to see this on a particular product and I'll do my best to get it up there for you quickly.

Chickadee & Deer Garden Flags

I'm happy to say my painting of black-capped chickadees in an apple tree, as well as my whitetail doe and fawn, are now available on garden flags. They were actually licensed for use on garden flags by Carson Home Accents last year but it takes a while for the ball to get rolling and some time before the products actually hit the stores. But they are finally out there, available now to purchase from all sorts of retail stores, as well as sites like amazon.

Wolf Cross Stitch Patterns

I just got some samples of cross stitch patterns with my artwork featuring a few of my wolf paintings. These images were licensed by Shinysun's Cross Stitching through Art Licensing International. As part of the contract agreement I get a sample of each product. Here's a scan of the product's cover page for my wolf painting, Night Watch.

I also scanned a bit of the inside. Below is just one page of 24 pages of pattern. Now, I've never done cross-stitching myself but this definitely does not look like a pattern for beginners! People who cross-stitch detailed images like this must be very dedicated. For those of you who do cross-stitching, how long would it take you to complete 24 pages like this?

Here are two more cross stitch patterns available using my wolf paintings. You can purchase any of these from Shinysun's Cross Stitching website.

My Art At SURTEX

It's been a while since I posted. It's not that I haven't been creating more art. Quite the opposite. I've been busy trying to get a new painting done for licensing. Speaking of licensing, THE big art licensing trade show, SURTEX, took place last week. My licensing agency, Art Licensing, attended and had a booth space there as they do every year. I was pleased to see they used a couple of my artwork images on their booth display panels. Art Licensing represents 400 artists with a combined total of about 100,000 images. I am honored that they chose two of my images out of all those to be used on their limited booth panel space. I'd say that means they think highly of my work and are working hard to promote it, and I appreciate that.

Here are the images used as well as pictures of the booth panels. The first image is my bald eagle painting, Morning Quest.

Here's the booth panel image. Can you find my eagle painting in the picture below?

Next up is my Apple Harvest Chickadees painting under the Fall Holidays section of the panel.

I'm told by Art Licensing that the show was a great success. So I hope that means more product licensing contracts for my art will be coming soon! I'll keep you posted here and on Facebook and Twitter.

Special thanks to Syrena O'Neil at Art Licensing for taking these photos and sharing them.
